About

Purpose
The aim of this blog is to record my various experiments and adventures with various recipes, many of which test the functionality, purpose, and usefulness of my KitchenAid Artisan Stand Mixer

The Story
It all began when we received a shiny, bright red KitchenAid Artisan Stand Mixer for our wedding. It hadn't been on our registry. Given that 95% of our registry contained a plethora of kitchen items, I worried a stand mixer might be the nail in the cupboard coffin - Where would we store it? Would we even use it? But when I saw the bright red glean of the Artisan peeking out from its cardboard and wrapping for the first time, I knew we could find some room for it. Since then, my mixer has remained a permanent fixture on the kitchen counter.  But the critical questions continued - Is a stand mixer's practical value really worth its weight and sum?

This blog began as a bit of an experiment – I wanted to trace my usage of the stand mixer to answer these questions once and for all. The blog serves as a place to record recipes and track the usefulness of the stand mixer. But it does more than that – it challenges me to try new recipes and test my stand mixer in a variety of ways (beyond the expected cakes, cupcakes, breads, and dough).

The Recipes
My hope is that you fill find the site helpful in appreciating the true nature and practicality of the Stand Mixer appliance in general. I aim to cover a wide range of recipes and foods to test the limits and boundaries of a mixer, hopefully revealing some unique and creative recipes that can be achieved.
The Mixer Rating Scale is meant to assess recipes based on the degree to which a stand mixer is important or essential to the success of the recipe. While a stand mixer has proved very useful to many of my recipes, very few recipes here absolutely 100% require a stand mixer to complete. The Rating Scale is meant to help differentiate recipes on this aspect. For an in-depth critique on the uses and practicality of Stand Mixers check out the Stand Mixer Page here.
